Crumbled bread
no use for me
no use for you,
for our birds
matter of survival.

Wounded Child
Sun hides
behind clouds,
like wounded child
hiding away
from attacker.
Rough Weather
Rugged cliffs
scarred headland,
rough seas
crushing rocks.
Sun baked cliffs
grass parched,
gale force winds
gulls scream.
Silence… Death…
In the sun-drenched skyline
harvests lay abandoned,
crops withered across the land
for it was a time of dying.
Pockets of humanity had escaped
the swath of death,
that had laid waste
to the human civilisation.
Countless empty villages
lay silent and forbidding,
mass graves everywhere
filled, with tangled skeletons.
Silence reigns everywhere
with the absence of life,
as radio-active winds
bring death and destruction.
Daylight…
The old man raised
a cup of coffee
to his thick lips,
sipping quietly.
He witnessed the birth
of a new world,
as nature took away
the light forever.
He had never known
a life without daylight,
he never understood
the power of nature.
All Seasons
Late snowfall had melted
bleating new born lambs faded,
spring was on its way
village gardens come to life.
Bluebells sapphired the woodlands
buttercups gilded the meadows,
daffodils gave way to pansies
blazing baskets all in bloom.
As summer burst forth
blue skies and white clouds,
blue lakes and white swans
feeding crumbs, to hungry swans.
Butterflies exploding from hedgerows
dragon flies glinted in the sun,
insects skate upon the surface
of the village pond.
Soft breezes, rustling wind
summertime moving with the breeze,
leaves turning golden brown
autumn is a coming.
Storms battled with the sun
rainbows across the shoreline,
as autumn moves in
with a chill in the wind.
Leaves fall from the trees
plants shedding their leaves,
temperatures plummet
as winter moves in…
Cold Winds of Nature
A cold easterly wind
blew along the coastline,
as a cruel wind lashed
against the shoreline.
Jagged breaths of cold air
pounded away, at her lungs,
as the cold winter’s air
burned her skin raw.
She pulled up her collar
hiding her face, in her coat
hoping to ward off cold winds
and the nail biting; cold effect.
Creature Comforts
He kindly took me in
when I had nowhere to go,
for I had been driven out
by the family dog.
He gave me shelter
when it rained,
he gave me warmth
when it was cold.
He shared his salmon
when I was hungry,
he gave me milk
when I was thirsty.
I would sit upon his lap
and he fed me chicken,
as he ate ice-cream
I would lick the carton.
I sunbathed amid the grasses
slept under the pampas grass,
he made me feel safe
and I trusted him.
I never knew, life
could be so good
as I fell asleep
in his arms…
What Future!
There was no past for them
there was no future for them,
they were alone in the world
with the sun, sky and nature.
Sea Memories
The land between
the sea and the village,
filled with emerald grasses
and blazing wild flowers.
For her the sea was sacred
a place of peace and life,
home of her sea god
home of mother nature.
Time had passed her by
the sun was going down,
hardly a ripple of the waves
the tide was going out.
